This series of literacy and numeracy lesson plans were developed by State governments with technical support from ESSPIN to support teaching and learning of literacy and numeracy in Nigeria’s primary 1 – 5 classes.

The lesson plans support teachers with the best approaches to improve the way children learn for better learning outcomes. The series includes full lesson plans for each lesson of the year aligned to the Nigerian National Primary Curriculum and approved textbooks. Lesson plans contain learning objectives, tips and instructions for teachers, recommended materials and lesson preparation, as well as child-centred teaching and learning activities and assessment activities, with timings, starters and plenaries. These provide a step-by-step guide to teachers, while ensuring that teaching and learning become more exciting and children become active learners.
