Annual School Census - The Jigawa Perspective
p>The Annual School Census (ASC ) is aimed at capturing basic information on schools, infrastructure, enrolment and attendance, teaching and none-teaching staff, to ease policy formulation and effective education planning by the government.Some enumerators interviewed in Roni local government, described the year’s ASC exercise as hitch free. During the activity in Jigawa, all key education officers including the Commissioner for Education, the Chairman, State Universal Basic Education Board (SUBEB) and ESSPIN representative were part of the monitoring team.
With technical and logistical supports from ESSPIN, the 2009 ASC exercise in Jigawa State was a success. Apart from the advocacy visits to sensitize stakeholders, series of publicity campaigns were carried out. Radio jingles and radio phone-in discussion programme among others were aired prior to the exercise.
The data collection exercise is being followed up by data entry and analysis before the comprehensive report is released.
