Lagos State Universal Basic Education Board (LSUBEB) - Visioning Process

One of the objectives of ESSPIN is to enable the transformation of schools into dynamic, well managed learning environments, where quality teaching and learning takes place. However, it is important to note that without good governance structures, effective and efficient management systems and teaching skills, change cannot take place at the school level.

In line with the above, ESSPIN has supported the Lagos State Universal Basic Education Board (LSUBEB) in conducting a 3-day Visioning workshop that held on 4 - 6 February 2010. Participants at the workshop included policy makers and top management officers in the LSUBEB.

The workshop created a forum for participants to discuss issues around the LSUBEB mandate, departmental functions and strategic planning. The outcome of the workshop was the development of new vision and mission statements; and relevant goals and objectives. The participants committed themselves to developing an action plan towards achieving the LSUBEB Mandate.

The Chairman of the Board, Mrs. Gbolahan Daodu in her opening remarks charged all present to use the opportunity of the visioning workshop to seriously deliberate on the challenges facing the implementation of basic education in the state.
