State-level programmes

ESSPIN worked alongside other DFID funded State Level Programmes (SLPs): PATHS II, SAVI, SPARC and GEMS

PATHS II (Partnership for Transforming Health Systems)

PATHS II worked in partnership with the Nigerian Government and other stakeholders, to improve the planning, financing and delivery of sustainable and replicable pro-poor health services for common health problems. The ultimate aim was to support Nigeria in meeting the health related MDGs.

SAVI (State Accountability and Voice Initiative)

SAVI supported states and their local governments to improve their responsiveness and accountability in the delivery of pro-poor services through working on support to policy advocacy projects; monitoring, research and policy analysis; and strengthening the functioning of State Houses of Assembly.

SPARC (State Partnership for Accountability Responsiveness Capability)

The State Partnership for Accountability Responsiveness and Capability (SPARC) was a State Level Programme supported by DFID. SPARC was designed to build on the reforms that were supported by the State and Local Government Programme. The main focus of SPARC was to support the development and implementation of state-owned government reform plans that will result in more efficient and effective delivery of public services.

GEMS (Growths Enterprise and Marketing in States)

GEMS provided technical assistance to lead State Governments and medium, small and micro-enterprises to develop a non-oil private sector capable of generating employment and growth. It also supported the Federal Government to help improve the business climate so as to help unlock investment opportunities and enhance the potential of the private sector to generate income and employment for poor people.
